Your music is yours.
Privacy policy · Updated October 9, 2026
Cratebird is made by Joshua Miller. We do not receive, store, or inspect your music activity. The app has no developer-operated backend, advertising, analytics, or tracking.
What stays on your Mac
Cratebird stores your settings and playlist creation and append history, locally, including original track lists needed to verify appends. That history includes playlist names, descriptions, selected track identifiers, creation results, and recovery information. Spotify imports may also save source track details and missing-item reports. These records let the app verify a playlist or recover an interrupted request without sending the write again.
If you choose the optional Spotify sign-in method, its credentials are stored in macOS Keychain. Apple Music authorization is managed through Apple’s MusicKit. Cratebird does not send Apple Music credentials to your agent or to us.
What goes to other services
- Apple Music: catalog searches, music identifiers, playlist names and descriptions, and requests to read, create, append to, or verify playlists go to Apple so the service can work.
- Your agent: the agent you configure receives its tool requests and results, such as song matches and playlist details. Its provider may process or retain your conversations and results under its own policies. Cratebird does not include or operate an AI model.
- Spotify, if used: playlist page requests go to Spotify. Optional authenticated import also uses Spotify’s API.
These services have their own privacy practices. Choosing an agent and its approval settings is up to you.
If you use the optional macOS share extension, it receives the page address you choose to share. Safari supplies the current address; the extension does not read page text, cookies, or tokens. Pending shared links stay in memory while Cratebird is running.
You control the connection
Agent access is off by default. Turn it on only for an agent you trust. Turn it off in Cratebird Settings to stop new requests; a playlist write already sent to Apple may still finish. You can revoke Cratebird’s Apple Music permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music. Disconnect optional Spotify sign-in in Cratebird Settings.
Removing local information
The current app stores recovery history in ~/Library/Application Support/MusicBridge/Creations and ~/Library/Application Support/MusicBridge/Appends. Quit Cratebird before removing those files. Removing an unfinished request’s history prevents recovery and may leave you unable to tell whether a playlist write succeeded. Deleting local history does not delete playlists already saved in Apple Music. Optional Spotify credentials should be removed with Disconnect Spotify before uninstalling.
